YouSeq releases low-cost qPCR kit to help fight mpox virus outbreak

Highly sensitive qPCR kit to be sold at low-cost to the developing world

Amidst the ongoing international outbreak of mpox virus, UK-based company YouSeq has released a low-cost qPCR kit and has begun supplying it to testing labs across the globe.

The qPCR kit detects the 1B mpox variant with high sensitivity. This new variant is highly virulent and more dangerous than other forms of mpox, and has been declared a “public health emergency of international concern” by the World Health Organisation.

YouSeq, based in Winchester, UK, is a company that specialises in the development of qPCR and NGS kits and reagents. It has built a reputation for quickly developing molecular diagnostic kits for rapidly emerging pathogens and other threats and providing these kits at a low cost, particularly to those most at risk in the developing world.

We’re proud to be offering our mpox virus qPCR kit at a low cost to support the fight against the outbreak and to help those most affected in the developing world.

A key component of the kit are qPCR probes provided by ATDBio. The ability of ATDBio to quickly and reliably deliver high quality qPCR oligonucleotides at a reasonable price led to YouSeq choosing the company to supply these necessary probes.
